Resilience: A lesson from Mt. Kit Carson

Mt. Kit Carson Tree

Isolation. That is what came to mind when I took the above picture on January 3rd, 2021 at the peak of Mt. Kit Carson. Isolation is a word I feel much of us are more familiar with having lived through 2020. And, to stop there would be a tragedy.

The next thought that came to mind was resilience born of adversity. On scorching summer days, that tree has stood alone, without shade, resilient to the heat. During severe winter windstorms, that tree has bent, but not broken. And, on January 3rd, 2021, it inspired me to reflect on how the adversity of 2020 is shaping how my life’s story will develop.

Dotson Physiotherapy was born amidst the adversity of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic. And, much like that tree on top of Mt. Kit Carson, it has the potential to help you use adversity as a tool by which to build resilience and a better future. If you are struggling with pain or movement-related dysfunction, we would like to help.

“It is your reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, that determines how your life’s story will develop.”

- Dieter F. Uchtdorf
