Look Familiar?
The great toe crowding out your other toes is more common than you might think. It’s called Hallux Valgus and is also a sign of dysfunctional movement patterns that will lead to pain down the road. The first source of pain is often at the base of the toe, where a bunion will form. However, the root causes can also contribute to developing knee and low back pain.
Many people wait until bunions have formed before seeking a cure. And, the cure they often seek is a surgery to address the bunion. In more radical surgical cases, the surgeon will also carve into the bones and joints to reposition the great toe. Unfortunately, these surgeries do not address the root causes and end up being a temporary… fix?
Root causes can vary from limited toe mobility to weakness in your rear-end muscles. Regardless, they all result in rolling over the side of your great toe joint.
